Sales: What Is It All About

Some companies feel that sales are all about the Feeds and Speeds -- or the Features, Advantages and Benefits of the offering. This may be true for product sales, but for professional services, one must first build the trusted relationship with the prospect. How can one do that if the discussion immediately progresses to what we call the Hard Deliverables? Keys to Success

As your company grows, retention of the best people is one of the keys to success. It is a good idea to conduct an annual HR audit - identifying those that are high performers, those that are not. For the performers, what is their career progression within the company? Work on a plan with the performers to increase the odds of them staying.

Here’s what happens at a typical TAB Board Meeting:

  1. We greet each other like the comrades we are on both a personal and professional level.
  2. We learn something new about a particular business subject or trend.
  3. One by one we move around the table with each member sharing a particular issue or situation on which he or she wants to gain perspective. Each board member asks questions to clarify and then offers salient and practical advice on how they would handle the issue wearing your shoes.
  4. We list the goals we have for the next 30 days, quarter and year and hold each other to them, questioning why we have not met the goal and how the board can help.
  5. We set the agenda for the next board meeting.
